USS Navy Ships

Did you know that most asbestos exposures occur in occupational settings? The sad truth is that most people are exposed to asbestos in industrial settings and may not even know about it until it's too late to protect themselves. Asbestos was used frequently in the industrial sector as insulation and fire-retardant for piping, boilers, electrical fixtures, and other materials. Among the many industrial settings in which these materials are commonly found is the shipyard and shipbuilding industry.

Many who worked in naval and commercial shipyards prior to the regulation of asbestos are at risk of harmful asbestos exposure. Naval ships, in particular, are known to be laden with asbestos use. Naval vessels, in particular, had to be especially resistant to fire and temperature transfer because of their combat military purpose.

For this reason, we have developed a list of Navy ships on which asbestos exposure may have occurred. We understand the importance that these ships played in our rich naval history. Detailed in each listing is a short history of the vessel and important campaigns that the ship participated in. In addition, each listing notes a series of locations aboard Navy ships in which asbestos exposure may have occurred. For more information about shipyard or naval asbestos exposure or for more information if you were exposed, please fill out the form on this page to receive a free information packet on asbestos and mesothelioma.
